...there is certainly a way, to skimboard in Alaska.
You may be surprised that the island has some pretty popular surfing spots and a lot of surfers brave the cold to get those waves. My little skimmers were willing to brave the chill to catch some sand-surfing action of their own.
First they needed a second skimboard. Two boys, one board, doesn't add up anymore. No problem! The boys just made one on their own! They cut and sanded a piece of wood into a skimboard shape. (I said egg shape but was immediately corrected.) I love that it's such a crazy bright green!
And it works! And we found a piece of beach near by that worked too. Those boys proved their doubting parents wrong, big time!
