This Moment.

{this moment} - A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

We get to look forward to a few days ahead of being together and a dinner date tonight with one of our favorite families. Whee!

Have a great weekend all!

Sleep Vs. Light.

We enjoyed a sunny day today!

We did stuff like this,

and this.

Below is a photo taken around 8:00pm.
Would you think bed-time if you saw something like that out your window?
Even if you were really tired from climbing and riding your bike?

Yeah. Me neither.
They had to go to bed anyway.

The next photo was taken just before 10:00pm.

Still not dark and I am still up hours later.

This is going to take some adjusting.
And some special curtains or satiny sleep-masks...

Hello! and Notes On Them "Roundies".

Hi! Hope you had a lovely weekend with your families and Easter celebrations!

Just checking in here with some notes on the other blog/project that I am happily letting take up my time. It has been fun so far! Thanks to those that check in and have been so supportive. Makes it even more fun.

I have fallen into a pleasing stitching, photographing, posting routine that hasn't felt invasive to my day and life-routine with the kiddos. Yet, anyway. I think "Out Here'n The Flats" is suffering somewhat, from my neglect. I am still here though, promise.

I am stitching each round the night before I post it. So, I am one day ahead really. I take a photo (or two, or 100) the next morning and quickly edit, then post. Easy as that! My stitching runs 1 -2 hours from concept to tying off. I do that after the house is sleeping, usually in front of a movie or listening to music by the fire with Jeff when he is home. I am really enjoying that time at night.

I have decided to take a second photo of each piece outta the hoop with the hopes of creating a huge photo collage in a year with all the squares this way. Might be a cool poster in the end...? We will see. I also have tagged each photo up on the blog with colors, general subject, pattern type, season and month to make sorting hundreds of shots easier in the end. Did that mostly for myself, but viewers may want to search for a red flower, stitched in December, designed by the kids. You never know right? Seemed like sensible organizing to me. Or micro-embroidery-crazy organizing... you decide.

Next, I pin a little label to the back of each one with the date and title on it. Then off it goes to the finished pile to wait for some important future purpose.

Sound like a realistic and not weird or embroidery-crazy process? The kids look at me like I am a tad nuts each morning and say, separately, "WHAT?! You did another one Mom?"

Yes. Yes I did.

Happy Tuesday All!

"DO NOT OPEN TIL EASTER."

Too late.

A box arrived from back home and it's been
opened and poured over and loved to pieces.

Amazing how simple feathers from your hometown lake
can bring back so many memories
and make you feel just a little bit closer.

A family of chocolate bunnies.
Two big. Three little.
One for each of us.

A new friend.
Hand knitted with a dress, shoes and a coat to match,
came all that way... for Easter.

For us.

There's no way we could wait.

The Bear Hat...

...that was supposed to be a bunny, that really looks like a puppy.

I guess it could be a lop-eared bunny? I prefer lops anyhow. I used the COZY WINTER HOOD pattern from my new favorite sewing book, "Oliver and S, Little Things To Sew." Sweet projects, good instructions and best of all, beautiful pictures.

At first I left out the straps to tie it on because I couldn't quite figure out the strap instructions. That one part could have been a little clearer. I am sure my brain could have been a little clearer too. I was trying to finish it quickly and I had Minna hovering and the boys climbing the walls. (Well, actually the roof, but that is all I am saying about that.) Those directions aside, the rest were very easy and clear.

I thought it would be cute just left to be pulled on and the side flaps hanging aviator-style, but look at that bunny go! She runs around quick-like with it on, so I sewed up my own ties with the lining fabric and hand sewed them on. That is a K. Fassett fabric and I am so glad to show more of it. So pretty! And Spring-y!

I think she is one happy bunny-girl! She has been hopping around the yard all morning with it on. Kind of funny seeing her poke around the (someday) veggie garden.

*Note to self- Must improve that rabbit-proof fence.

Don't tell anyone that I bribed Minners with a Peep to get her to let me take some pictures.

I thought it fitting...

a sweet bunny for a sweet bunny.

To Do List-Bubbles.

I can't say enough about the pretty sun and almost un-cold weather we have been having. Colyer said it was hot the other day and he wanted to take his shirt off. I think he is acclimating quite well.

I am sure you have guessed that we have been spending most waking moments out of doors. We planted a bit, we are riding our stuff with wheels and most of this morning was consumed with drippy-wonderful bubble-blowing.

My indoor time today was spent photographing my embroidery for the day and sewing a little ha-aaat! I will show you tomorrow. I will say now, it fits, and is cute and will serve it's purpose very well. It will be the star prop in the kid's Easter picture that I hope will be taken outside tomorrow as well.

Oh lovely sun, please stick around...

We have about a gallon of bubble solution left,
and some (very orange-y) Easter best that must be worn!

Cut It...

Out here I am cutting and cutting and cutting.

While cutting I am marveling at the fact that yesterday, I was weeding and raking in just a long sleeve shirt but today, I am probably pulling out my heavy coat. Kodiak, I am just marveling.

So I am almost done cutting my 5x5 squares in prep for a year of stitching over here. I hope after the next 365 days I will be marveling at a collection of mini embroidery pieces.

Have a great day!

Coming Soon...

Well, when I get a crazy idea while snuggling (and snuggling) with a wiggly girl that took an extra long time to fall asleep tonight, I sure don't waste any time putting it into motion!

It's in motion.

May I present, my very own Project 365!

Yup. It's my two favorite creative things, embroidery and photography.
We will see what happens.
I hope I don't wake up tomorrow
with that "morning after" feeling of regret.
Because, I didn't think this through.
Really, I don't normally do this sort of thing.

It just, sort of, haaap-pened...

Wish me luck and please join me. Pretty please?

Happy Wednesday!

2nd Shooter In Town.

Pulled out my first digital camera that came around the time of my first child. (Almost 10 years old!) Been addicted to taking pictures ever since.

Now my youngest is behind it.

Happy Monday to you and Minna says...

"Wook over here!"

Today...

Sun, sticks as swords, hammock, a bit of magic, food, friends, crackin' the windows...

...that's all we've been doing out here.

We only have time for the important stuff.
